ABW Celebrates Connection, Courage and Recognition at ASB Annual Conference & Awards

On Tuesday 4th November, a dedicated group of ABW members made the early morning journey from Ayrshire to Perth Theatre for the Association of Scottish Businesswomen’s Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony—a day that proved to be as inspiring as it was energising, with the theme of "Kind Ambition".

Despite a scenic detour through the back roads (!), our team arrived in time for registration and light networking before diving into a packed agenda of brain-nourishing sessions. Highlights included:

  • “Working With Me”: A reflective workshop on building positive work environments and understanding our personal operating styles.
  • “Get Unstuck”: A practical session designed to tackle real business challenges with fresh thinking.
  • Networking Bingo & Collaboration Exchange: Fun, interactive formats that encouraged meaningful connections and mutual support.
  • Fireside Chat with Jade Robertson: Founder of Little Lies, Jade’s story was a powerful reminder of the strength found in authenticity, resilience, and vision.

Three core themes echoed throughout the day:

  1. Be unapologetically true to yourself.
  2. Lift as you climb—women supporting women is a force to be reckoned with.
  3. Celebrate how you show up, every single day.

The evening culminated in the ASB Awards Ceremony, where ABW was honoured to be shortlisted in three categories:

  • Overcoming Adversity Award: Carly Diamond and The Gem of Knowledge
  • Most Enterprising Business Award: Morna Ronnie of The People Portfolio
  • Affiliate Group of the Year: ABW

We were thrilled to receive a Highly Commended recognition in our category—a testament to the tireless work of our committee, who continue to invest time, energy, and heart into building a network that truly supports its members.

A special congratulations goes to Morna Ronnie, whose business The People Portfolio won the Most Enterprising Business Award. Her pioneering work supporting menopausal women back into employment—through collaboration with Henpicked and menopause-friendly accredited organisations—was rightly celebrated as a standout initiative.

A special mention to our very own Isabel McNicoll, former President of ASB who poured in a huge effort in organising the event with their new President, Ailsa Stinson. Both ladies did a sterling job to create such a fantastic impactful event, with over 100 affiliate members in attendance.

It was a brilliant day of learning, laughter, and leadership. ABW left Perth feeling proud, connected, and more committed than ever to our mission of empowering women in business across Ayrshire.
