Each year Ayrshire Business Women (ABW) select a charitable organisation to support, this year the members nominated Beautiful Inside & Out (SCIO).
Beautiful Inside & Out (SCIO) was set up by Pauline Moriarty, after her adored 13-year-old daughter Jenna Moriarty tragically took her own life one day after school.
Pauline discovered there were many gaps in the system in terms of providing support to bereaved siblings and parents of suicide victims through counselling, play therapy and music therapy. Pauline realised that through the work of Beautiful Inside and Out (SCIO), Jenna could still be helping others.
At the AGM, the ABW also presented a cheque for £1800 from last year’s fundraising efforts to Pauline Moriarty, founder of Beautiful Inside & Out (SCIO). Vodafone had very generously matched ABW’s raised amount resulting in this impressive total.
Founder of Beautiful Inside and Out (SCIO), Pauline Moriarty has been overwhelmed by the support of the ABW members, she commented:
“Thank you so very much to all these incredible Ayrshire Business women, for raising an incredible £900, doubled by Vodafone, giving a total of £1,800.
“As all of our services are funded by Beautiful Inside & Out(SCIO), this generous donation, provides either forty-five counselling/ music /play therapy sessions, or it enables us to organise and fund music therapy in schools, for our more vulnerable children.
“It also allows us to introduce a new service of 'Dramatherapy'. If we can save even one life, then our pain is not all for nothing.
“The friendships and relationships formed with many of the ladies, has led to yet further funding, amounting to over £10,000.
“Many of the ladies have also been extremely generous with their time in helping to raise funds for us through our own fund-raising events, such as bag-packing.
Ladies, you are all truly beautiful inside and out and we cannot thank you enough.....”
