I'm so delighted and beaming to have taken over the helm of the Ayrshire Association of Business Women. I've been a member for 8 years and have previously held a post on the committee as treasurer, as well as being events organiser for the AABW for the last 2 years.
And events organising is my own business, as I operate as a sole trader with Sarah's Creative Occasions, based from my country home by Kirkmichael in South Ayrshire, planning all kinds of special occasions, weddings and corporate functions.
Prior to Sarah's Creative Occasions, I was a project manager for NATS and worked my way up the career ladder for over 16 years, finally helping to deliver the new air traffic control centre at Prestwick, which was officially opened by Anne, the Princess Royal in 2010.
I'm actually a chartered engineer too, with a degree in electrical & electronic engineering, but have now gone full circle back to my creative roots and passion for everything arty, whilst using my renowned organisation skills and attention to detail.
Ipswich born, my family moved to Scotland in 1989 and I very much regard Scotland as my home now. Having married a Scotsman in 2007, we live in a country cottage by the Water of Girvan, surrounded by wildlife galore in our transforming garden.
Looking ahead for the AABW, one thing which won't change, is our personal touch, to networking and offering support to each other. We are currently working away to automate much of our set-up, to allow our organisation to remain sustainable as we grow. And we have a fantastic programme of events across Ayrshire, designed to be of value to you and your business.
