Students from Kilmarnock Academy, Marr College, Loudon Academy, St Matthew's Academy and the Ayrshire College networked with businesswomen from across Ayrshire and thrived on the inspiration and experience present, in a celebration of International Women's Day organised by the Ayrshire Association of Business Women (AABW).
Members and guests enjoyed a busy drinks reception and sumptuous dinner at the Western House Hotel in Ayr on Tuesday 15th March 2016, followed by a question and answer workshop with a trio of chief executive guest speakers.
Fiona Lees of East Ayrshire Council, Eileen Howat of South Ayrshire Council and Val Russell of the Ayrshire Chamber joined in with celebrations and spoke to the array of women in business and young entrepreneurs.
Heather Taylor, aged 17, of Horizon Pages (the Young Enterprise Scheme team at Kilmarnock Academy) said "Wonderful evening. The venue was excellently chosen and all the AABW women were extremely welcoming. I particularly enjoyed the panel question and answer session arranged for the evening which gave me a real insight into the world of business."
The night rounded off with a set of top business tips from the guest speakers: "don't take no for an answer"; "grasp every opportunity"; "don't be afraid to fail" and "believe in yourself".
The AABW would like to thank Developing Young Workforce Ayrshire, who kindly offered sponsorship towards the subsidised rates for the local students to attend the event.
